The Red Wine and Chocolate Tour is coming up. If you still haven’t finalized your romantic weekend getaway in February, we still have some last minute rooms available (as of this writing, but hurry, we always book up in advance of these weekends). This year, you have two weekends to choose from! It runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday, February 13th, 14th and 15th AND Saturday and Sunday, February 20th and 21st. You can read all about it and get tickets on the Olympic Peninsula Wineries website.
That said, here’s a little plan that lets you get the most wine-and-chocolate-tasting-with-the-least-amount-of-driving-for-your-buck.
Don’t go wine-tasting on an empty stomach (even with chocolate.) Start off with our full sit-down breakfast here at Domaine Madeleine. Beginning at 9am, anticipate finishing breakfast around 10am. Stop back to your luxurious suite to freshen up then leisurely head off to your first stop.
Arrive at Wind Rose Cellars – 143 W Washington St, Sequim, WA 98382 – around 11am (about a 17-minute drive). Sip, sip, sip, nom, nom, nom.
Then head over to Harbinger Winery – 2358 Highway 101 West, US-101, Port Angeles, WA 98363 – (about an 18-minute drive – the absolute longest stretch in our little plan). Again with the sipping and the nomming.
Now pop on over to Camaraderie Cellars – 334 Benson Rd, Port Angeles, WA 98363 – (a whopping 2-minute drive). Sip, nom, repeat.
Finally head to your last stop, Olympic Cellars Winery – 255410 US-101, Port Angeles, WA 98362 – (17 minutes back towards Domaine Madeleine). If you have any room left to sip or nom, enjoy. If you can fit any more bottles of wine in your trunk, do so. You’re only 8 minutes away from home (your vacation-home-away-from-home, that is).
Weary, but satisfied, return to Domaine Madeleine, crawl into your comfortable bed and gaze at the fire. You don’t have to be up for breakfast again until 9am. Nighty-night!
